Before Expressive Limited was formed Richard Parker already had 10 years in the IT businesss behind him. Firstly with Pindar Infotek in York, part of the Scarborough based Pindar PLC, and then with three companies, On Demand Information (ODI), Interactive Media Services (IMS) and Teamtalk.com all based in Leeds, originally the job was with ODI, but buyouts and demergers lead to a career with all three.

A broad skills based was established throughout these years, from C and PC Assembler to Perl and CGI on the software side to NetWare, Unix and network design on the hardware side, and Richard sees these years as being the finest training possible for a career as an IT consultant.
