Initially called in by the Capacity & Storage Management Team to create a suite of Perl scripts to automate the task of reporting on the success or failure of backups. The scripts (still in use today) interfaced with Veritas NetBackup and Tivoli Storage Manager to ascertain if the backups had run correctly, and a report was generated using an Excel template and OLE.

As the contract came to an end word got around the Halifax that we were soon to be available, and another contract duly arrived, working with the Systems Management Team. A devolved user administration system was created using Perl and VBScript, with ADSI, CDO, MS SQL Server 2000 and Oracle.
